Questions to ask your wedding venue before booking

Congratulations, on this beautiful journey you both are in. This Ohio wedding photographer loves being able to help where she can and it looks like you’re on the hunt for a wedding venue (one of my favs is Rivercrest Farm in Dover, OH). So, you’re in the right place. So, you’re here cause you either want to know what to ask, add to your list of questions, and/or make sure you’re not missing out on any additional questions you should ask. Maybe you’re not 100% sure on if you asking the right questions for a potential wedding venue before possibly booking them. I’m here to help and I’m so glad you’re here.

Here are some great ones you can ask your potential venue:

  • What packages are offered and what’s included?
  • Are there any additional fees I should be aware about?
  • What is required to secure the date?
  • What is the payment structure?
  • How many weddings are being held in one day?
  • Do I need insurance of any kind? What do you require?
  • Can I bring outside vendors?
  • Are there any noise restrictions?
  • Is there a backup plan for rain/bad weather?
  • Are there any hotels nearby for guests that are out of town?
  • How many guests does the venue hold? Do you have any layout options I can see that you accomodate?
  • What is your COVID policy? What is your cancellation policy?
  • Can we bring our own alcohol? Do you have a liquor license?
  • Are pets allowed at the venue?
  • Are you handicap accessible?
  • Do you have a bridal suite and grooms suite?
  • Do you have a coordinator?
  • Are there any decor restrictions like candles? Can we hang anything on walls or ceiling?
  • Can we have our rehearsal the evening before?
  • Where do the guests park? Will I need to hire a shuttle?
  • How many guests can you accomodate for the ceremony and/or reception?
  • Can we have a sparkler exit?
  • Will you or someone be present on the day of if I have any issues on the day of (need toiletry stocked, AC quits, etc)?

So, with some of these questions there may pop up some follow up questions. And that’s ok, if there are follow up questions that happen then ask away. So, no question is a dumb question. Since there are so many venues out there and each venue has different set of follow up questions. I hope these questions help as you are touring the wedding venues that catch your eye. Got any questions to add to this list, leave a comment.
