One of my favorite things about photographing weddings throughout Ohio is seeing just how different every wedding day can feel. One weekend I might be photographing a lakeside ceremony where guests are watching boats drift by during cocktail hour. The next, I’m at a bright white barn tucked away in the countryside where everyone ends the night belting out their favorite songs on the dance floor. That’s why I always tell my couples that choosing your venue isn’t just about finding somewhere pretty. It’s about finding a place that feels like you. If you’re planning a wedding near Akron, Ohio, here are five venues I think are absolutely worth touring.

If you love the idea of getting married near the water but still want your wedding to feel timeless and elegant, Tudor House at Mason’s Cove is such a beautiful option.
The historic Tudor-style architecture gives the venue so much character, while the views overlooking Portage Lakes create an incredibly peaceful setting for your ceremony and portraits. One thing I especially love here is how everything is close together. We don’t have to spend half your cocktail hour driving somewhere else for portraits because there are already so many beautiful spots around the property. That means more time celebrating with your favorite people, which is always a win in my book!

Some venues just have a way of making everyone instantly slow down, and Aurora Meadows is definitely one of them. If you’re dreaming of an outdoor wedding surrounded by trees, open skies, and plenty of fresh air, this venue creates such a relaxed atmosphere for the entire day. It feels tucked away in the best possible way.
As a photographer, I also love having room to wander. We can step away for ten minutes together, find a quiet little corner of the property, and create portraits that feel natural instead of rushed before heading right back to your guests. And if you’ve ever heard photographers obsess over “golden hour”… this is exactly why.

If you’re looking for something that’s a little different than the traditional ballroom, Blue Heron Brewery is such a fun venue to explore.
I love venues that let couples create a wedding day that feels like an experience, and this one does exactly that. Guests can enjoy the outdoor spaces, gather together during cocktail hour, and then head inside for a reception that feels full of energy. It’s also one of those venues that photographs differently throughout the day, which I always love. We can capture romantic portraits outside, documentary-style moments during cocktail hour, and then all of the dance floor fun later that evening.

I know “barn wedding” can mean a lot of different things, but White Rose Barn feels bright, clean, and incredibly timeless. The white exterior gives everything such a fresh, elegant look while still keeping all of the charm couples love about barn venues. It doesn’t feel overly rustic, and it doesn’t feel overly formal either. It strikes such a nice balance.
One of my favorite things about photographing here is how versatile the property is. Whether your wedding style leans classic, modern, colorful, or neutral, the venue becomes a beautiful backdrop instead of competing with your vision. And trust me… future you will never complain about having gorgeous natural light for portraits!

If your vision has always included an elegant estate wedding, 1840 Manor House is definitely one to add to your list.
As someone who’s constantly thinking three steps ahead on a wedding day, I also love venues that make timelines feel effortless. Moving from getting ready to your ceremony, portraits, and reception feels smooth, which means you spend less time wondering where you’re supposed to be next and more time soaking in the fact that… you’re married! Those are always my favorite kinds of wedding days.

There are so many beautiful wedding venues near Akron, but at the end of the day, the “right” one isn’t the one with the most Pinterest-worthy ceremony space or the biggest ballroom. It’s the one where you can picture yourselves getting married! And when you’ve found it, I’d love to help tell the story of everything that happens there.
If you’re planning an Akron wedding and looking for a photographer who will cheer you on, help you feel comfortable in front of the camera, and capture all of the big emotions and little in-between moments that make your day uniquely yours, I’d love to connect. Reach out and tell me all about your wedding. I can’t wait to hear what you’re planning and help create photographs you’ll treasure for decades to come.
